Hey! We are long overdue a girlie catch up on here...
I am very aware I tend to go completely MIA at times and some days I update my story on Instagram more times than my two-year-old asks me questions I don't have the answers to. If I am being completely unpretending, it's more of a personality trait than circumstantial, I accidentally went two weeks without calling my dad once! We are officially three months into PP and I had my first night out. Since my last blog update, we settled into our new home (@ourlittlescottishhome) and hit 20K on Instagram! Over the last few weeks, I have had my fair share of trials and tribulations, from pest control and sickness bugs to meeting new friends and having my nails done for the first time in 9 months - to name a few.
I have been pretty open about my PPD on Instagram and TikTok lately. I am so lucky to have such an incredible support system around me between my family and friends. My health visitor has been pretty on the ball from the get-go in getting me any extra support I need. Over the last few weeks she, along with my GP has been strongly advising me and believes I should go down the medication route. I haven't fully made up my mind yet, it's not something I am entirely against but something I feel like is a last resort if things don't progress mainly as I'm breastfeeding and hear so many mixed reviews and opinions online. Advice is welcome in the comments. Something else I was struggling with was just feeling like I had lost myself and the cliche identity crisis so I thought maybe a night out would help. It's crazy what fake tan and French tips can do, I might not be cured but it did make me feel a little less alien. My first night out was actually kind of perfect too. I finally got to meet my best friend's group of friends (who were all amazing and such fun) and I didn't take it too far. The thing is, you quickly learn after having your first baby that hangovers are not worth it. I might have looked silly ordering a glass of water with every drink but staying hydrated on a night out is the key to feeling fresh as a daisy in the morning, i swear by it and haven't been hungover in years.
You're probably wondering why on earth I had pest control at my house. The week I moved in I had two visits. First for flying ants - a vast group of creatures I had no idea existed let alone one that could abode your home. Then I had my first ever experience with a mouse, or as Jasmine called it "the pesky mouse". I am pleased to say both pests are no longer causing me any more issues and I said my farewells to the Pest control man. The only issue I face now is the abnormally large spiders I keep finding. Last night one got stuck in my curtains, i was so terrified my poor stepdad had to get out of his bed and drive to mine at midnight to catch it.
The second week we moved in, our house fell ill with the cold. Looking after a poorly duo was fairly challenging, though I never hope to have to do it again with mastitis. At that point, it really felt like everything that could go wrong was going wrong. So many big changes have happened which understandably have been taking a toll on my eldest behaviour. Lately, it felt like the slightest thing could trigger a meltdown. I did in the end decide I wanted to keep Jasmine at her original nursey and no longer have any plans to move her for anyone that had seen my tiktok. After discussing everything with her nursery and due to her behavioural changes we wanted to trail reducing her hours until she's doing a little better. I have been trying new ways also to deal with, avoid and help her through her wobbly moments which I will talk about a little more in depth soon with you all.
Recently we celebrated my best friends son's birthday. 'Two infinity and beyond' - how genuis is that? Off course we had Tommy and Jasmine dressed up Woody and Jessie. They are the sweetest little duo. Alix kindly sourced jasmine her favourite cheese in bulk and we finally got little Rosie and Logan together born just a month apart.
My favourite months are finally here and I can't wait to share all my autumn-inspired content with you all. As of next week, I am finally back to decorating and updating our Reno Series on TikTok! Although I haven't posted any official decorating content I have been doing little bits here and there whenever I get the chance. Jasmine's bed is officially up! We put up her curtains and organised her room a little so there were no more boxes/bags to unpack. I am seriously emotional at the thought of putting her in her room to sleep at night since I have been cosleeping with her for nearly two years. As much as I won't miss the bruises on my back she gives me I will miss my cuddles. Other upcoming exciting events include taking my younger sister to the Harrods Beauty Carnival in Edinburgh, a truly bonding annual tradition. I plan on finally updating my makeup collection as I'm making more effort to get dressed in the mornings these days. Stay tuned!
